One thing you can be sure of when it comes to weight loss is that people are always looking for the latest and greatest in ways to lose weight without really trying. Sounds like a contradiction in terms, right? Sounds almost too good to be true? Well, the sad truth is that truly sustainable weight loss requires some effort. Some sort of physical exercise or activity needs to be done in conjunction with reduced calorie intake to produce long-term weight loss. This is the only way to lose weight and keep it off. Unfortunately, given the huge amount of money to be made in the global weight loss industry, there is never a loss for quick and ‘painless’ diet plans, programs, weight loss machines and devices, services, and, of course, supplements. One of the most interesting ‘pain-free’ and ‘effort-free’ ways to lose weight that is being promoted currently is weight loss hypnosis.
How It Works
According to its promoters, hypnosis for weight loss is all about focus. Since people gain weight when they focus too much on food and their cravings, anything, according to hypnosis promoters, that gets people to lose this unhealthy focus and consciousness of cravings can result in weight loss. Hypnotic focus creates a state of concentration where the hypnotized person is absorbed in and centered on something. If you focus on food, you will probably gain weight. If you focus on something else, you might eat less. One great example of how the core essence of weight loss hypnosis works is when people are gathered together around a restaurant table talking. The more they get absorbed into the conversation, the less they eat. Hypnosis works the same way. The whole focus is to get you to stop fixating on food or your hunger.
But Does It Work?
According to a study, there is a slight improvement in the weight of persons who tried hypnosis for weight loss. Besides the fact that this might be inconclusive since there is only one study made, the lack of stellar results might be due to the fact that people on this program might be relying on it solely to lose weight. Just like with health supplements, if you don’t do anything else to lose weight, like exercise or watch what you eat, you might overcompensate for whatever weight loss you achieved with the supplement or hypnosis. As a result, you might end up where you started in terms of weight.
